It’s cold and snowy here in Toronto, and I have to admit it’s really pretty but as I sit here working this post, I can’t help but think of warmer months ahead. We haven’t had much sun here in the last 2 months and it’s really starting to get to me. It’s actually kind of depressing. It’s in these darker days that we need to think about giving ourselves a little extra TLC and there is nothing better than running yourself a soothing, healing detox bath soak.
Benefits of a detox bath soak
There are many benefits to soaking in the tub and this healing detox bath soak is going to help your body in so many ways.
Taking a bath can help with everything from stress to sore muscles.
The ingredients I have chosen for this detox bath soak all work together to help ease sore tired muscles, help if you have a little cold and help detox your body.

Epson salts are high in magnesium and according to the National Academy of Sciences, we are terribly deficient in it and that’s leading to higher rates of heart disease, stroke, stress, fatigue and much more. Yikes right?
Epson salts contain magnesium and sulfates, both of which are easily absorbed through the skin. Sulfates are important to for brain function, joints and detoxing.
The Epson Salt Industry Council (yep, there is such a thing) lists the following benefits:
- ease migraine headaches

- increases calcium
- relieves stress
- reduces inflammation
- helps the body absorb nutrients
Baking Soda can help neutralize skin acidity and promote the elimination of toxins. Soaking in baking soda can help refresh, renew and soften your dry skin. Another reason to LOVE it.
Himalayan Sea Salts rejuvenate and detox the body. They help to draw toxins out, deep cleanse the skin and heal the body from the outside in.
Lavender Essential Oil: Research has revealed that the essential oil of lavender may be useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness. … In addition to helping with digestive issues, lavender is used to help relieve pain from headaches, sprains, and toothaches.
Chamomile is sometimes called an “herbal aspirin” since it’s been a popular home remedy for lowering pain for centuries. Chamomile flowers are used alone or in combination with other anti-inflammatory foods to reduce pain, congestion, swelling, and redness.
